Data sources and credits

Everything on this site is assembled from the public sources below, each used under its own terms.

sportsdataverse

Schedules, scores, box scores, play-by-play, rosters, player biographies, standings and drafts come from the release files published by the sportsdataverse project (wehoop's data repository). The project captures the public pages of three upstream publishers, whose work the data remains:

  • WNBA Stats: the WNBA, including the advanced season measures shown as published.
  • ESPN: the WNBA since 1997 and Division I women's college basketball since 2001-02.
  • stats.ncaa.org: official NCAA box scores and play-by-play.

Where two sources describe the same game, the official one is kept (WNBA Stats for the WNBA, the NCAA for college) and the other fills what it lacks.

Wikipedia

Where the history stage adds them, league seasons before the box scores, awards, All-Star and All-America selections, the Halls of Fame and the earlier NCAA tournaments come from Wikipedia, used under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.

What is not here, on purpose

This site does not use Her Hoop Stats, Basketball-Reference, recruiting services or any third-party team or player rating. Any rating shown is computed here from the box scores, by a documented method.

Logos and photographs

The public site shows generated team badges and silhouettes, not league or school logos or player photographs, except free photographs from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the photo credits page. Team names and marks belong to their clubs, schools and leagues. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Women's National Basketball Association or the NCAA.
